WESLACO – Weslaco police is asking the public’s help to identify a person of interest in a theft investigation.

Police say they responded to a call in regards to a theft of cellphone last Wednesday at the Wal-Mart in Texas Boulevard North.

The victim told police they had accidentally left a black iPhone 7 at the self-checkout cash register.

According to a press release issued out Friday by the Weslaco Police Department, surveillance video shows a man scanning some items and then grabbing the phone on his way out.

He’s seen leaving the store in an old maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck model.

Authorities say the male subject has short brown hair, facial hair and uses glasses. He was last seen wearing a dark blue t-shirt and blue jeans with brown shoes.

Anyone with information on the case can contact Weslaco police at 956-968-8591 or their Crime Stoppers line at 956-968-8477.
