Woman Sent to Hospital after Vehicle Crashes into Ditch

DONNA – Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputies, constables and other agencies are at the scene of an accident in Donna.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Thursday along the frontage road after the Salinas Blvd exit.

Crews are working on the westbound side where it appears a vehicle drove into a ditch.

DPS troopers, EMS and fire trucks also responded to the scene.

Moments after a CHANNEL 5 NEWS crew arrived on scene, a woman was seen being placed in a stretcher and put in the back of an ambulance.

DPS Lt.. Johnny Hernandez said the woman sustained non-life threatening injuries.

We’re told the driver was trying to maneuver the vehicle and lost control. The car’s airbags were deployed and the front windshield was completely broken by the time it was removed from the ditch.

We don’t know if any other vehicles were involved.
