Boys and Girls Club Expected to Reopen
ALAMO – Boys and Girls Club of Alamo-San Juan suspended operations due to difficulties finding a new insurance company. However, officials announced the club will reopen soon.
George Arcaute, the chairman of the board for the Boys and Girls Club, said the club was able to find an insurance company before their final deadline.
The club is expected to reopen at a later date.
In the meantime, Alamo City Manager Luciano Ozuna Jr. said the city will be facilitating the club’s summer program.
“The city offered to administer those programs and to fund those programs. They were happy with that. So the city, right now, this time is registering kids for the summer programs,” he said.
Ozuna said the summer programs started Tuesday and will be held at Alamo Middle School. The cost is $80 and the program lasts for a total of nine weeks, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Children ages 6 to 12 are able to register for the program. They will be provided a breakfast and lunch.
