Man hospitalized in rural Mission shooting, investigation underway

A man was hospitalized Wednesday after he was shot in rural Mission, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened at the 6900 block of Minnesota Road shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies responded to a welfare concern at the scene and learned that a 23-year-old man had been shot in the shoulder.
The unidentified man was transported to a hospital by a relative, according to a news release.
