Teen Charged in Connection to Human Smuggling
DONNA – A 17-year-old is charged with smuggling people who entered the country illegally and endangering their lives.
The teen was arrested when he was caught transporting more than 10 people, including an infant, north of Donna last month.
U.S. Border Patrol agents said he rolled over causing those inside to be ejected from the black SUV he was driving.
Border Patrol said multiple people were rushed to the hospital with injuries.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned the teen was paid $800 for the trip that led to his arrest.
