August Heat Shattered Records in RGV
WESLACO - Saturday wraps up the hottest week in the Valley this year.
Weslaco resident Raul Espinoza spends his days outside, he said this year he felt the summer temperatures.
Espinoza said, "It feels like when you open an oven, that's how it feels."
According to National Weather Service (NWS) Meteorologist Barry Goldsmith this August the summer heat broke more than one record.
Goldsmith said, "August tends to be the hottest month of the year on average in the Rio Grande Valley and in Texas as a whole, these values are breaking the all time calendar month record for both of those sites."
One average NWS issues 3 or 4 heat advisories during the summer, according to Goldsmith this year they issued more than 2 dozen.
