EDINBURG – Multiple law enforcement agencies respond in huge numbers after a man escaped Border Patrol custody.

Customs and Border Protection says they are looking for Edgar Lopez-Morales.

Border Patrol agents, Department of Public Safety and Edinburg police were seen on the ground and DPS helicopter in the air.

The incident forced two schools to be placed on lockdown as a precaution and later lifted.

Morales was being treated at South Texas Health Systems Emergency Room in Edinburg.

After being medically cleared, he escaped from Border Patrol as agents were attempting to place him in a unit.

Morales is still at large.

Border Patrol is the only agency currently searching for the suspect.

If you see Morales, Border Patrol says to not confront him, but to call 9-1-1.
