Body of Man Found along SPI Shoreline
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – An investigation is underway after a body washed up on shore at South Padre Island.
Officials are warning about the dangerous surf conditions and rip current risks after the body of a man was discovered near Beach Access 5 Monday morning.
The chief of the Cameron County Park Rangers, Horacio Zamora, says the body appears to have been in the water for some time.
He believes the man may have been traveling with a group of people in the country illegally.
Zamora says so far the evidence leads to a drowning case; an autopsy has been ordered.
