WESLACO – Border Patrol is still looking to recruit more agents in order to complete President Trump’s executive order.

Trump signed an executive order in 2017 which called for the hiring of 5,000 more agents.

This demand came from the president’s call of a crisis on the border.

Border Patrol now includes just over 19,500 agents but it’s still not enough.

Recruiter Jose Lemos says applicants must pass a physical and background investigation, as well as a polygraph – this process can take up to 10 months.

KRGV’s John Paul Barajas has the details.
