BROWNSVILLE - Thanksgiving is approaching and one food pantry in the Rio Grande Valley is gearing up.

The food pantry at Good Neighbor Settlement Home in Brownsville has been open for just over a year.

Assistant Director Belinda Bradford says they see more people coming in during the holiday season.

"Not everyone can afford to buy all the fixings to make a Thanksgiving meal," she says.

For volunteer, Hector Berlaga, being able to help those in need means everything.

He says his goal is making sure they leave with enough food so they don't suffer from hunger.

Berlaga hopes others will find it in their heart to volunteer and make a difference in their community.

The Good Neighbor Settlement Home is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Food Pantry hours are as follow:

Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., closed from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
Wednesdays closed
Thursday 1-3pm
Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., closed from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
