WESLACO – Immigration and Customs Enforcement are doing their part to keep guns and large sums of cash out of the wrong hands in Mexico.

The customs spokesperson representing the Hidalgo, Pharr and Anzalduas bridges said a team is responsible for southbound checks on vehicles.

That team goes from bridge to bridge to do the inspections.

Officers search vehicles and question the drivers. They look for any items not properly reported for export.

They said that typically means seizures of cash or weapons.

For a list of what’s allowed for export, visit the Customs and Border Protection website.
