WESLACO – Thousands of claims of price gouging are being reported to the Texas Attorney General's Office following Hurricane Harvey.

According to the AG’s office, so far a total of 3,216 reports have been filed.

In the Rio Grande Valley, they’ve received three complaints from Cameron County and one from Starr County.

The complaints were filed between Aug. 25 and Sept. 7.

Price gouging occurs when businesses raise their prices excessively on essential goods like water or fuel in a recognized disaster area.
