RAYMONDVILLE - The deadline to apply for federal assistance to recover from last June’s floods is rapidly approaching.

Starting Monday FEMA representatives will be on south 7th Street in Raymondville to help residents apply for assistance as well as answer other questions.

The June floods hit Willacy, Cameron, and Hidalgo County hard.

Nearly 1,200 homes were destroyed or heavily damaged in the flooding on June 24.

Now with one week left until the deadline, FEMA is opening another center for Raymondville residents to get answers.

FEMA will be offering advice on how to apply for federal assistance, information on small business association loans, and other assistance available to victims of the storms.

The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is Monday, Sept. 16.
