UPDATE (7/10):  The Department of Public Safety confirms Trooper Moises Sanchez will have his final surgery Monday.

His wife, Mrs. Sanchez, says the surgery is to place a reconstructed bone flap in his head.

UPDATE (6/13): The Department of public safety has announced Trooper Moises Sanchez is being transferred from DHR rehabilitation Hospital in Edinburg to TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation and Research Hospital in Houston.

EDINBURG – The Department of Public Safety announced Trooper Moises Sanchez is now out of the intensive care unit.

His wife, Yvonne Sanchez, released a statement saying Moises moved out of neuro intensive care unit and into the Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance rehabilitation hospital Wednesday.

Moises will undergo at least three hours of rehab each day before undergoing surgery in a few weeks.

The trooper has been recovering for more than six weeks after being shot April 6 while responding to a crash site.
