DPS: Vehicle evading law enforcement led to fatal crash

A vehicle evading law enforcement resulted in a three-vehicle crash that killed a 53-year-old Donna woman, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Five other people involved in the crash were hospitalized, DPS said in a news release.

The crash happened Thursday at around 2:45 p.m. south of Business 83 near Stites Road and FM 493, according to DPS spokeswoman Sgt. Maria Montalvo.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black Nissan Altima occupied by one male driver was traveling southbound on FM 993 south of Business 83 when it attempted to make a U-turn while evading law enforcement, colliding with a Saturn ION and a Toyota passenger car.

A passenger of the Saturn - Lili Sanclur Hernandez, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The three other passengers of the Saturn and the drivers of the Nissan Altima and Toyota were hospitalized.

DPS is leading the investigation.
