EDINBURG – An Hidalgo County project meant to solve one issue is now creating another.

Nearly 20 residents from a North Edinburg colonia gathered at a meeting in hopes to hear a solution.

The meeting was to address the ditches along Gardenia Street where homeowners say there are no barriers.

Neighbors find themselves filling in the washed away soil with their own dirt.

Construction on the drainage project started more than a month ago; it’s part of the Hidalgo County District 1 project.

Officials say it’s an area prone to flooding.

The drains will help, but the additions are causing injuries.
