The Brownsville Police Department is at the scene of a shooting that left one person dead.

Police responding to the corner of East Tyler and 19th streets Wednesday at around 8:30 p.m. found the unidentified victim "deceased from the shots fired," according to police spokeswoman Abril Luna.

The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation, Luna added.
