WESLACO – A woman accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars pled guilty in a Hidalgo County courtroom Tuesday.

Authorities say 66-year-old Cecilia Elaine Joeris stole the money from her former employer, Thurmond Eye Associates in Weslaco.

She’s charged with first-degree felony theft of property.

The charge carries a jail sentence of between five to 99 years and a fine of up to $10,000.

Joeris will be sentenced March 29.
