Local Police Chief Steps Down after Internal Investigation Opens
SAN BENITO – The city of San Benito is taking matters into their own hands regarding a four-month long investigation.
The San Benito police chief is stepping down due to the city’s decision to open an internal investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting in December.
Ricardo Trevino III is said to have led police on a car chase before the officer opened fire.
The Texas Rangers are still looking into the case but an outside agency has been hired by the city to look into the matter.
KRGV’s John Paul Barajas has the details.
