Mercedes fire chief fired for violation of personnel policy
MERCEDES – A Mercedes city official is off the job.
According to City Manager Sergio Zavala, Fire Chief Tommy Ureste was fired Friday. The removal was due to a "violation of personnel policy."
Ureste was also the city's emergency management coordinator. The city named Javier Campos Jr. as the interim fire chief.
Police add the former chief is not facing criminal charges.
