MISSION – A Mission restaurant owner is offering his support to the family of Cpl. Jose “Speedy” Espericueta.

The restaurant owner, Eduardo Pinto, says Cpl. Espericueta was a regular.

Pinto runs a diner on 9th Street in Mission; he says a lot of his regular customers are law enforcement officers.

Since the death of Cpl. Espericueta, Pinto says he has seen a difference in the way officers are acting.

"When you see police officers here, you know; you can see on their faces that something is not right. It's very sad for all of us,” he says.

Pinto tells us he wants to know if there is any way he can help Cpl. Espericueta’s family.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to the City of Mission to see how Pinto can help.

A spokesperson for the city of Mission, Catherine Hernandez, says Pinto can stop by City Hall and ask the information desk on how to make a donation.

She adds he can also stop by the Mission Police Department directly to see what he can do to help.
