New State Law Fines College Employees for Not Reporting Sexual Misconduct
EDINBURG – Starting January 1, 2020 college employees could be fired and charged for not reporting sexual misconduct.
Senate Bill 212 amends the Texas Education Code to require an employee who witnesses or receives information regarding incidents of sexual assault, dating violence or stalking to report it.
If any employee of the university chain of command does not report an alleged case, they could face a Class B misdemeanor.
