HIDALGO COUNTY--A man wanted for a string of robberies in Hidalgo County was arraigned Saturday.

Jesus Alejandro Ortiz, 30, was caught in Bexar County on Wednesday during a traffic stop.

He was wanted for robberies in McAllen and Mission. According to Mission police, officers responded to a Motel 6 on the 1800 block of E. US 83 on Friday, January 20th. The suspect was wearing a mask and demanded money from the clerk. Mission police said he threatened to shoot the clerk, but did not show a weapon. He had his hand covered, making it seem like he had a gun. The suspect got away with some money.

Mission police said McAllen police had a couple crimes committed the same night and it seemed like the same suspect.

The suspect was given a $200,000 bond for the Mission crime. He's also expected to be charged by McAllen police.
