Sports Minute: Cowboys add former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith to LB group
FRISCO, Texas (AP) - The Dallas Cowboys have signed former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith to bolster a depleted group of linebackers. Rookie Luke Gifford broke his arm in a 44-21 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Veteran Joe Thomas injured a knee against the Rams. The Cowboys were already without Leighton Vander Esch. He was their first-round pick in 2018. Smith was the MVP of the 2014 Super Bowl with Seattle. He returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown and recovered a fumble. Smith was with Jacksonville briefly this season.
