Progreso House Fire Leaves One Injured
PROGRESO – One person was injured in an overnight house fire in Progreso.
Progreso and Weslaco fire crews responded Sunday night to a home near FM 1015 and Malone Road.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS is told a 7-year-old was inside the home when the fire broke out. The child's aunt was outside at the time. She went inside and helped get the child out.
According to Weslaco Police Chief Antonio Lopez, the woman was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. He believes the injuries to be non-life threatening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
