20-Year-Old Suspect in Cameron Co. Chase Arraigned

UPDATE (9/13): A 20-year-old man is facing several charges after leading police on a multi-city chase. 

Police said Carlos Monreal was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign. He then led officers on a chase to Rancho Viejo and then back to Harlingen. 

Police said there were two warrants out for his arrest. 

Monreal is being held on a $75,000 bond.

SAN BENITO – A man was arrested after leading authorities in a multi-agency chase across Cameron County.

San Benito Police Chief Michael Galvan said a patrol officer stopped a Chevy Impala for failing to stop at a stop sign.

When the officer approached him, the driver took off initiating the chase with San Benito police. He led them to Rancho Viejo near Brownsville then looped back around towards Harlingen.

Galvan said police disengaged as DPS and Cameron County constables took over. The chase ended at a home in Washington Palm Drive in Harlingen and the man was arrested.

Galvan said the man had two pending warrants. He will be facing additional charges for this case.

He’s expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
