MISSION – A man hospitalized for severe burns following a house fire has died.

The fire broke out Sunday night at a home near W 4th Street and Nicholson Avenue.

The 78-year-old was taken to an out-of-area hospital. His two grandchildren were also hospitalized but were released Tuesday evening.

Two police officers and a firefighter treated for smoke inhalation were released the same day.
