Border Patrol Foils 2 Drug Smuggling Attempts at Falfurrias Checkpoint
NEAR FALFURRIAS – U.S. Border Patrol says two separate drug smuggling attempts were foiled within the same day.
On Friday, Feb. 9, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias checkpoint referred a vehicle to a secondary station.
Upon further inspection, agents found three bundles of alleged cocaine hidden in a rear-door panel.
Fifteen minutes later, another vehicle was searched. According to a press release issued out Monday, agents discovered more than 14 pounds of meth concealed in the lining of an ice chest.
The drugs’ estimated street values are of $275,800 and $466,000, respectively.
The drivers of the vehicles, both U.S. citizens, were arrested.
