Cameron Co. Elections Dept. Working to Prevent Cyber Hacking
BROWNSVILLE – Cameron County is preparing for the November elections.
The county’s election administrator, Remi Garza, says the federal government is helping to prevent cyber hacking.
“The Department of Homeland Security is offering to assist us in analyzing our process, our computer system... Even the state. The Secretary of State office has made funding available to do those types of assessments,” says Garza.
He says even if a hacker manages to get into the county’s software, extra security measures are in place protecting the elections department.
