MCALLEN - A morning house fire in McAllen remains under investigation. Officials said they’re in the preliminary stages of the case

Firefighters responded to a house on the 3800 block of Zinnia Avenue. That's off Ware Road. The fire broke out just before 8 a.m.

McAllen Fire Captain Cesar Cadena said crews arrived on the scene shortly after the initial call.

“We were able to extinguish it and contain it to the kitchen area of the house. There was nobody inside, all the occupants did come out. No occupants were hurt or the firefighters,” he said.

Cadena said there was one person at home during the time of the fire.

Two dogs were killed. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
