MCALLEN – The Texas primary election is just around the corner. Six candidates looking to unseat a Republican senator stopped in the Rio Grande Valley for a forum.

Democratic candidates Chris Bell, Michael Cooper, Amanda Edwards, Jack Daniel Foster, Victor Harris and Sema Hernandez to the stage at the McAllen Convention Center on Wednesday night.

Their goal is to be voted to replace Sen. John Cornyn in the upcoming Senate election in November.

They will be campaigning across the state for several more weeks before one is selected.

The primary election for Texas is March 3.
