COMBES - One man is dead after a three vehicle crash in Combes on Saturday afternoon.

The collision took place on F-M 508 and Briggs Coleman Road. The Texas Department of Public Safety says a Chevrolet Impala was attempting to pass a Jeep Patriot traveling westbound on FM 508. Investigators believe the Impala did not take proper precautions when attempting to pass the S-U-V. The Impala crossed into the eastbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Malibu, John Anthony Cruz of Raymondville, died from his injuries. The driver of the Impala was treated at the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating this incident.
