Former Mexican Governor Pleads Not Guilty to Charges
BROWNSVILLE – A jury will soon be selected for the trial of a former Mexican Tamaulipas governor accused in a drug conspiracy.
Tomas Yarrington is facing eight charges including racketeering, money laundering and conspiracy to import drugs.
His court-appointed attorney skipped the reading of the indictment and announced a not guilty plea.
U.S. Magistrate Ronald Judge Morgan found Yarrington to be a flight risk.
Yarrington will remain behind bars without bond.
Jury selection is scheduled for June 8.
