LAREDO – It has been a year since a South Texas Border Patrol agent was arrested for an alleged killing spree.

Juan David Ortiz is charged with capital murder of multiple people and remains behind bars.

Last year, Ortiz was caught hiding in a parking lot after one of the would-be victims escaped.

The Webb County District Attorney is preparing for the trial.

Ortiz's next hearing is scheduled for the start of October.
