MERCEDES – A local man who helps others with their animals says he’s doing his best to prepare for the incoming storm.

Teo Martinez is known as the ‘Hidalgo County Cowboy’ and spends time helping people who lose their livestock.

Back in June, his property was flooded with several feet of water.

"It's hard. It's hard to see your work for the whole life in one minute is gone," says Martinez.

Three months later, he’s recovered.  He’s now prepared to help others in case the floods are too much for the animals.

Martinez says he’s already been contacted by people asking if he has space for their animals. He says he will keep any livestock that he rounds up in his corral.

KRGV’s Christian von Preysing has the details.
