NEAR MERCEDES – Loose trash has been causing problems in areas of the Rio Grande Valley that were affected by flooding.

Trash and liter clogged several drains throughout the Valley, which made problems worse.

Hidalgo County is now working to give residents more options to rid their trash.

Three locations are available in Hidalgo County for residents to properly dispose their trash.

KRGV’s Christian Von Preysing visited a resident who is slowly picking up the pieces after his home was damaged by floodwater.
