Local Disabled Mother Reacts to Gov't Shutdown Agreement

WESLACO - A local woman says she is relieved by the temporary re-opening of the government.

Maria Ordaz says she is dependent on the housing authority to keep a roof over her head.

She says she is living off of a disability check and providing for her daughter and grandson.

"At least it buys us a little bit more time in our homes. You know hopefully they'll wake up and understand the wall is not more important compared to human lives," she says.

Ordaz says her family doesn’t have anywhere to go if the government shutdown continues after three weeks.

She says she is grateful congress and the president are considering all those impacted
