SAN JUAN – Locally owned stores and restaurants are reportedly losing business due to federal employees on a no-paycheck budget.

KRGV’s Taylor Winkel spoke to an employee at La Concinita restaurant, Hugo Gonzalez.

"A lot of our regulars are government workers," he says.

Gonzalez says business is really slow after the government shutdown.

He says tables are usually packed with federal workers, Customs and Border Protection, and Border Patrol agents.

Gonzalez says he is concerned for the future of the restaurant if the government shutdown continues.
