HARLINGEN – Harlingen police are searching for a suspect wanted for assaulting a man in the parking lot of a convenience store over the weekend.

Police say they received a disturbance call on the 1800 block of West Taylor Avenue at a Stripes Store on Sunday at 8:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, police encountered a man who had been struck over the head after a dispute in the parking lot.

According to a press release, the victim told police the driver of a black Cadillac Escalade had been driving closely behind him.

Both the victim and the driver pulled into the store's parking lot and the argument ensued. 

Soon after, two males pull up driving motorcycles, one of them later identified as Joshua Inocencio Huerta.

Police say Huerta allegedly grabbed a blunt object from the Escalade and hit the victim in the head.

All three subjects fled the scene before officers arrived.

Officials say the victim didn’t sustain any life-threatening injuries.

Police say a warrant for Huerta’s arrest was issued.
