MISSION – A Hidalgo County man is no longer living in poor conditions thanks to his community.

Mission resident Eutiquio Montoya’s former roof was falling down, floors had water damage and his A/C unit was nonexistent.

Mission Housing Authority, Hidalgo County and all of his friends joined forces to help.

"I like it here its real nice and air conditioned and everything," said Montoya as he sat in a lone chair in his new living room.

Montoya said friends helped him go from what some would call a shack to an air conditioned home. His new home has a working bathroom and fully stocked kitchen.

Montoya is still in need of some furniture in his new home but tonight he sits comfortably.
