WESLACO - Texas Farm Bureau Insurance is working to find out what happened to one of their disbursed insurance checks. The check was meant to be used to repair Anna Bibian's truck.

Bibian was involved in an accident in February. A chain reaction crash sent another vehicle flying into her parked truck.

"It scraped all my truck. The ABS is on and the brake is on, so I still need to get that fixed. I don't know if I'm driving dangerously with my truck," said Bibian.

Months have passed and Bibian's truck is still in need of repairs. Bibian said her personal injury attorney looked into what was causing the delay.

"My lawyer found out that the insurance had already mailed the check to the body shop,” she told CHANNEL 5 NEWS.

The copy of the check shows it was mailed to Powerstroke Diesel Service in Weslaco. The check is made out to Bibian and the body shop. It was cashed at Lone Star National Bank in San Antonio. The person who endorsed the check, Alejandro Barraza, signed off as someone representing the company.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to Powerstroke Diesel Service. Ricky Montana identified himself as the owner. Montana told CHANNEL 5 NEWS he never received the check. He said the person who endorsed the check is the shop’s previous owner.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS asked Texas Farm Bureau Insurance about their policies regarding cashing insurance claim checks. In an email, Gene Hall, the director of communications with Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, said both signatures should be required.

In a statement, Edna De Saro, the senior vice president and marketing director of Lone Star National Bank, wrote, "We recommend that Ms. Anna Q. Bibian file a dispute directly with the insurance company that issued the check. If the negotiated item was allegedly handled in error, all bank procedures would go into effect between the issuing bank and Lone Star National Bank."

Bibian said she just wants the issue resolved and repairs to her truck to be made. The insurance agent working with Bibian said they are looking into what happened.
