SULLIVAN CITY – Officials are issuing a warning after human remains were found in Sullivan City.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas learned Wednesday’s discovery was the first time in two years that officials found human remains.

The police chief warns local man-made trails are considered heavily-traveled areas for human smuggling.

“[Border Patrol agents] were out there and they ran into them. That’s when they immediately called us,” says Richard Ozuna, the Sullivan City police chief.

He says people crossing illegally should stay away from these areas and avoid becoming another statistic.
