WESLACO – A recent pre-election mailing shows just how public your vote is.

Mailings which showed names, addresses and whether a person voted or not were sent out ahead of Election Day.

The Voter Participation Center sent out these mailings with intentions of being a reminder to vote.

The non-profit organization released a statement that reads in part:

"We have one main mission, and that's to encourage people to vote – especially those most likely to drop off as voters between presidential and midterm elections."

They say the information they use is public record.

KRGV’s Christian von Preysing spoke with Cameron County Elections Administrator Remi Garza who explains some information is made public by law when you register and when you vote.
