SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – South Padre Island officials want property owners to be ahead of June 1, the start of hurricane season.

In the event of an emergency evacuation, home and business owners must have a car sticker to get back on the island.

The stickers can be picked up at the police department.

To pick them up, islanders will need to bring completed vehicle identification sticker form and other items.

Residents should bring:

  • A driver’s license

If their license does not show a South Padre Island address, bring proof of residency; such as a utility bill or copy of a rental lease.

License plate number, make, model and color of your vehicle(s) are also required.

Business owners or managers are only allotted four stickers. They will need to provide:

  • Name of each employee
  • Copy of their license
  • License plate number
  • The make, model and color of vehicle

Residents can find more information on the city’s website.
