EDINBURG - A Rio Grande Valley veteran with no known family members will be laid to rest with full military honors on Thursday.

Specialist Edward R. Applegate served in the Army from 1965 to 1967.

He received several awards including the National Defense Service Medal.

The burial service is set for 10:00 a.m. at the RGV Texas State Veterans Cemetery on south Inspiration Road in Mission.

The city of Edinburg is inviting the public to the service.
