Used car importer reacts to new toll at Pharr International Bridge
Those exporting used and salvaged vehicles into Mexico at the Pharr International Bridge are now paying more at the toll.
Pharr city commissioners approved the new toll price of $150 per vehicle. It’s the second toll increase in a year.
The toll price was $5 per vehicle in early 2025.
A used car exporter from Reynosa said the toll increase impacts his customers.
“A used car that cost $1,100 is now costing $1,200,” Hugo Jofre Chávez said. “These cars go to the most vulnerable people with low incomes.”
In a statement to Channel 5 News, Pharr bridge officials said the increase was necessary to support continued growth and operational demands.
