MCALLEN - Rio Grande Valley Walmart shoppers are looking at the store in a different light following a mass shooting in El Paso.

Resident Andrew Bedford says he loves shopping at Walmart.

He says he can't help but think about what happened in El Paso and that Walmart could add more security to prevent any future incidents like this.

Another McAllen resident, Jimmy Jones, says when it comes to shootings, Walmart is no different than anywhere else.

"This is happening in churches, it's happening in parks, it's happening in Walmart and businesses. It's happening in any kind of place you can think of!” says Jimmy Jones.

CHANNEL FIVE NEWS reached out to Walmart to ask if there are plans to boost security at its stores; Walmart would not comment on it.

In a tweet on the El Paso shootings this weekend, the company stated "We're praying for the victims, the community & our associates, as well as the first responders. We're working closely with law enforcement."
