Edinburg Stabbing Suspect’s Bond Set at $1M for Murder Charge

EDINBURG – The man accused for the stabbing death of an Edinburg man on New Year’s Day is now formally charged.
Thirty-one-year-old Ramiro Escobar was arraigned Friday in Edinburg municipal court.
According to police, he stabbed 44-year-old Miguel Adrian Ramirez Alonzo to death at an apartment complex. Escobar is charged with first-degree murder and faces up to 99 years in prison if convicted.
Police have yet to determine a motive for the crime.
Escobar remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
