ALAMO – A new ban on pet sales is now in place in Alamo, specifically targeting animal cruelty.

The city of Alamo is banning animal sales in: parking lots, flea markets and along the side of the road.

Jesus Franklin, who runs an animal rescue in Mission, was pushing for this ordinance and says more cities need to follow Alamo’s lead.

A Texas state law requires large scale dog and cat breeders be licensed, but Franklin says amateur backyard breeders are still using animals as a way to make money – abusing them in the process.
