Autopsy Results in for Man Found Dead in Detention Pond in Alton

UPDATE (1/28): The autopsy results are in for a man found dead in a detention pond in Alton. 

The results from Valley Forensics indicated that the cause of death was ruled to be methamphetamine toxicity with recent use of cocaine. 

The opinion on the matter was ruled to be accidental.

ALTON – A body found in a detention pond in Alton on Christmas has been identified.

Investigators confirmed the identity of the man as 25-year-old Eustacio Christian Mireles, who was reported missing on Nov. 17.

Officers responded to a detention pond at the 600 block of North Mexico Street in Alton after receiving a report from a concerned citizen.

The results of the autopsy are still pending.
